Coach jeff polo

Tell us a little bit about you, your background, education, and accolades.

I am what the CrossFit community refers to as a "Masters Athlete"! During the day, I work for Dell as an engineer. I have two boys - one is a senior at Victor HS  and the other graduated in 2021. I have an amazing better half, NOVA's very own Coach Theresa!

I have always been active, whether it was outdoor activities, martial arts, weight lifting, etc. I picked up CrossFit 10+ years ago and never looked back. Along with being an athlete, I also have my L1, L2, and CrossFit Kids credentials. I joined NOVA in May of 2022 when the Victor location opened.

Outside of the gym, I enjoy a good Bourbon and like golfing, hiking, and anything outdoors.

What brought you to NOVA Fitness?

I heard of NOVA and knew they had an amazing coaching staff, programming, and community - everything you want in a box. When a second location opened in Victor I made the jump and have loved it ever since. I feel like I have been part of the community since I got here. Joining the coaching staff has provided me an opportunity to grow as a coach and athlete.

What has been your most memorable moment at NOVA Fitness so far?

Watching all the members, both new, veteran, or visiting from another gym, progress and hitting PRs that they never thought possible.

What is one way CrossFit has positively impacted your daily life?

CrossFit has kept me active and healthier than I have ever been. It has allowed me to be active in my kids' lives and mine! I love being able to continue to do the things I have always done without needing to slow down because I am getting "old"!

What advice would you give to someone new to CrossFit?

Show up to classes consistently. It helps you become comfortable with the coaches, other athletes, and movements. Ask lots of questions - the coaches love it!  Step out of your comfort zone. A good box and coach will make sure you do things safely so you can try those new things. And by all means - smile and have fun!
